Halloween Safety Tips from Karate World

Happy Halloween from Karate World of New Providence, NJ

Happy Halloween from Karate World of New Providence, NJ

Here are some Safety Tips to keep your child safe while trick – or – treating this year!

Tips for Mom & Dad:

1. Younger children (12 & under) should be accompanied by an adult while trick or treating. Older children should have a curfew and parents should know what route they are walking.

2. Costumes should be made of brightly colored materials that are visible at night or have reflective tape.

3. Children should use face-paint when possible instead of a mask. Masks tend to create blind spots and may make it difficult for your child to see very well, especially in the dark.

4. Beware of long or loose-fitting costumes that might cause a child to trip and fall.

5. Make sure your children know not to eat any treats before you inspect them. A good preventative measure is to make sure children have a good meal before leaving. You can also provide them with a few treats from home that they can eat along the way.

Make sure your child knows the following:

1. Always walk on the side-walk. If a side-walk is not available, walk on the left side of the road facing traffic.

2. Avoid taking shortcuts through backyards or alley ways.

3. Only trick-or-treat at well-lit homes in familiar neighborhoods.

4. NEVER enter a stranger’s home. Only accept treats at the front door.

5. Look left, right, and left again before crossing a street at a crosswalk or corner.

6. Carry a flash light.

7. Always stick together in groups. NEVER trick or treat alone.

Wishing you a Safe and Happy Halloween!
